I didn't know the stripe wrapped around the front.
It's currently the nicest looking part of the van.
I've never seen it without that big ugly piece of black plastic. It looks nice without it.

looks like next purchase is a gallon of refrigerator paint for some touch up

So when are you going to bag it?

Touch up might be an understatement. More like repaint the entire thing. Paint's peeling on the roof now ._.

The laundry list of thing that would come before bagging it is about a mile long.

You must do this.
Do not post again until you do it.

Oh.

No.
Never. Nevernevernever.

I have this idea that eventually I'm getting it painted blue and having the stripes redone in silver, get some silver steelies to match it with some white-lettered tires. And an LS3 to complete the package.
Maybe just some white rattlecan paint for now.

I apparently pissed off a kid I barely know when I saw his porcelain-colored Ford Explorer Ltd. in the parking lot and commented to the friend who was with me that it looked like an old refrigerator.

haha someone was feeling hard about his Exploder? Typical. There can only be one...and it is an early 5.0l, standard, 2wd, 2 door sport. Then it can be any color, I just want one so bad...

DAT STRIPE
My parent's Astro had a wrap around one too (hard to tell in the pic) since it was a Rockwood conversion. All silver underneath the stick on stripes, and the hood was peeling like mad after a few years like yours.

I rarely see any of the older Safari/Astros without peeling paint. They must've changed their paint process when they updated them.

Wrong. Take a rattle can, mask off the gold stripes, and paint the van satin black. Instant awesome. You now have a Trans Am themed van.

GM and Chrysler and others were trying a water based(?) paint I heard, and that's what caused the peeling. It didn't stick to the primer, so it peeled off. I had a Neon that had the same issue. The Astro got so bad the whole hood looked like a patina'd rat rod.

This is a much better idea.

Satin black van, black painted chrome, black steel wheels, window tint, gold stripes. It would look so bad ass.
